One of the strongest powers of social media is that it is able to connect people with same interests that do not know each other, live in different parts of the world, etc.
The Greek quilting community did not have a virtual space to communicate until some months ago where Mania (a greek quilt teacher in Athens) started a FB group for all quilters who live in Greece.
And so the first Greek Quilt-A-Long came to be. Quilters from all over Greece sent blocks to Mania, in order to make a collective quilt with the colors of the greek flag (mainly).
My contribution was that block which I thought would be a good idea, to make something that I hadn't tried before. Raw edge machine applique. I used some scrap fabrics and adhesive spray to help with the applique. I hand quilted around the letters and really I liked the outcome.
I've got so many more projects to post and so little time, but I guess until the end of next week I will manage to post some of them.
