My first time EVER entering a BOM (Block of the Month) Quilt-A-Long! And I am really excited to be participating in this one, as it will last all year long, and the goal is to learn many many techniques and "build up" your quilting skills.
It is hosted and organised by Alyssa Lichner at Pile'O'Fabric.com,whom I have been following since she began her amazing blog. Thank you so much Alyssa for this wonderful QAL!
I went for a white background for these blocks, as I have a lot of spare white, but it also matched best with the small floral prints I wanted to use for this project.
You can view the progress of the BOM and its members at our Flickr Group.

WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced
This Wednesday's WIP is dedicated to my beautiful golden retriever Robby. He is six years old and we have him since he was two.

Every afternoon, me and my husband sit on our diy sofa, and watch TV Series, eating sunflower seeds (we are totally addicted to them). Robby is just in love with sunflower seeds. He gets all crazy when we sit on the sofa, because he knows that it is time for a treat.
Back to our WIP. I have been planning to make a Swoon quilt for quite some time now. Deciding on the fat quarters that I would use, was surely a challenge, but an easy one. The main goal was not using white as a background...

Materials

Using the Amy Butler "Soul Blossoms" line of fabric for the stars of the swoon, and for the background I purchased "Sketched" from Timeless Treasures.
I am having a small doubt about this block regarding color value. I am not sure if i picked the right combinations of fat quarters.
For now I am in love with this first block...fortunately all blocks are already cut and ready to sew...so I believe this top will soon be finished.

PS 1. I so love comments...so please cheer me up!!
+This is a photo of this morning when I woke up. He was looking really suspicious of any movements inside. He was really hilarious...sorry for the dirty windows.

I finished this small quilt -I call it a stroller quilt/blanket- on our way to Thessaloniki, while my husband was driving...Hand binding a small quilt can be a very easy "on the road" project.

First of all I have to credit my inspiration, that was NanaCompany and her wonderful quilting, and the book "Warman's Vintage Quilts", which includes a very similar doll quilt.
I used on the top the line "30's Playtime" by Chloe's Closet from Moda fabrics and a dark brown cotton solid, and for the backing Red flower Floursack from Windham fabrics. The quilt measures approximately [63,5 cm x 83,8cm] 25'' Χ 33'' inches, and it was machine quilted, with a few hand-quilted details, and hand-binded.

I decided to keep this space of our living room for photographing my smaller quilts. I think it looks really cool.

The quilt is listed for sale in my Etsy Shop:

I had a great time visiting my family, it was really emotional this time.
I spent most of my time with my niece, that is the most adorable girl in the world...

I did a bit of fabric shopping, because I always find my basic cotton solids in amazing prices. Possibly on Friday I will tell you all about it.

Also, we organised a small gathering for the Etsy Greek Street Team members that live in Thessaloniki and we really had a good time, learned a lot of things, and got to know people that were just "online-acquantainces" and now they are a lot more. A big thank you to everyone that participated, but a special thanks to Savvina from WishSupplies that made a great effort for this meeting.
