Addictions #1 Books
10:00 AM
I am a person that gets addicted pretty easily...So along with my new 'hobby'- quilting came two basic and fundamental addictions: Fabric and books. I spend most of my time, instead of quilting or sewing, in browsing and searching fabrics and books.
Today I will talk to you about books.
I buy them mostly at amazon.co.uk for a few basic reasons (I really do not intend to advertise this website...if you have found a better online bookstore please inform me):
*I really adore making listsToday I will talk to you about books.
I buy them mostly at amazon.co.uk for a few basic reasons (I really do not intend to advertise this website...if you have found a better online bookstore please inform me):
- You can find an enormously big collection of quilting-sewing and crafting books, thus VARIETY
- Because there is no nearby bookstore selling these type of books, amazon sometimes provides the ability to "browse" inside those books, thus CONTENT
- Free shipping, super-important, thus FREE EUROPE SHIPPING
- You can buy other stuff along with books, thus DIVERSITY
- You can read reviews from people who bought and tested the actual book. I find it really helpful, thus RECOMMENDATIONS

Anyway, a very sweet girl named Amy, was inspired in making a beautiful quilt from a great book, that I really could not resist in buying...And that was it! I am in love with this book.
Warman's Vintage Quilts, is actually a price guide on vintage quilts that contains A LOT of traditional quilts that are just irresistible.
It is a very good pool for inspiring quilters and great for pattern making. The photos are really good and also the info beside every quilt is really interesting.
My next project is definetely this amazing star quilt, I just have to figure out how to make it!
If you love watching photos of quilts or just want some of your lost inspiration back, I totally recommend this book.
Have a nice day!

Thanks for sharing how you collect your books~
ReplyDeleteI had no idea amazon-uk had free european shipping, this is great. I'm American but will be in Athens for 3 months this spring and I was very nervous about not being able to order/ship things for a reasonable price while I'm there. I still don't trust the greek postal service, but that's another story...
I love your blog and your projects, and I've been reading you for a while now. I'm so happy to have found another young quilter in Greece, you are for sure a rarity. For a long time I thought I was the only quilter in Greece, and I'm only there in the summers, hehe.
back to books-- do you have the ones by Ringle & Kerr? Modern Quilt Workshop is one of my favorites.
take care,
jess
Well there are sure 8 of us in Greece and I am not sure if they are all greeks...lol.
ReplyDeleteGlad to be helpful in anyway, be careful to check the super save delivery (in order to have a free shipping)...Thanks for the recommendation, I am definetely buying this one...
PS. So you are coming to Athens?
Will be in Athens from March 23-June 19. I know you're quite far, but any chance you'd come into the city this spring? As far as meet-ups go, it's kind of a long shot, I know. But I'll be happy to know that there's someone else out there (or 8 of you?!?) quilting it up with me in Greece.
ReplyDeletePerfect, maybe we could work something out. Email me whenever you are in town, and we'll talk about it....
ReplyDeleteWell, have a nice trip!!!
