Wip Wednesday: My Checkers UFO

11:17 AM

Recently, I have been trying to finish all of my UFO's...and it is slowly going very very well. I really felt frustrated just keeping cut fabrics-ready to be pieced, or prepared tops in the closet...(or maybe again I should get used to it!).

This is my Checkers quilt top, made as a baby quilt. At first I had planned to make a large twin, but as I was assembling the top, I thought that it would be best to make two baby quilts! And so this is the first one...

Materials

I have used two charm packs that i absolutely adore:
1. Fairy tale friends by American Jane (Moda fabrics)
2. Coming home by Deb Strain (Moda fabrics)

My only consideration is the binding. My first option is to put a white kona binding and thus give more emphasis on the blocks, or second option use this American Jane print, that I have a lot of.
What do you think?

Now on this week's statistics

Dresden quilt: still handquilting.
Pinwheel quilt: I have finished the quilting, and it is about to be binded. I will show this one next week.
Butterfly quilt: no progress
Swoon quilt: piecing the top.

Summary of this week's stats:
Completed projects -0
New projects -0
Currently in progress -5

  1. I like the vintage-y feel of this! Tough choice on the binding... it would make for two different effects depending which way you go! I like the print for a more quirky look, or if you want to keep the clean lines of the sashing go with the solid. Don't think you can go wrong either way ;)

  2. I prefer the print. I think. Its just white enough to break up the grey.

  4. The white sashing on this quilt is a lovely touch and gives the quilt a fabulous retro/vintage feel. My vote is for the solid white for the binding.

  6. The vintagy feel was the purpose to start with, and I am glad to have managed this...but all the credit definitely goes to the fabric lines!
